About Me

Born on the unceded land of the Susquehannock

Cierra Woods is a performer, arts administrator, and choreographer born on the unceded land of the Susquehannock people, now called Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Woods earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA where she had the honor of receiving the Rose Vernick BFA Choreography Award. She has collaborated with luminaries such as Sidra Bell, Kun-Yang Lin, Merian Soto, Dara Meredith, MICHIYAYA Dance, Maliek Dance Theater, and Renegade Performance Group, as well as a resident choreographer for Sankofa African American Theatre Company in her hometown.

My artistic journey is a continuous exploration of the body's capabilities, encompassing freedom, restraint, routine, and everything in between. I'm fascinated by the interplay between personal embodiment and music mutilation, drawing connections between time periods and the cyclical rhythms of the natural world. Through a holistic facilitator's lens, I aim to offer both internal and external insights, shaping authentic narratives that reflect the complexity of individual histories and perspectives.

As I navigate the realms of truth, legacy, and sustainable systems,

🔗committed to optimizing pedagogical approaches and choreographic research, fostering transparency and high-quality infrastructure within communities.

🫧create environments where progressive ideas can flourish, nurturing the evolution of both art and society.
